Welcome

Welcome back to any previous players, and if you are new to the area – then we welcome your family to the Club, and look forward to supporting your player this season. If you need any further information than what is offered on our website then please email us.

School Year 0-8: we offer a variety of programmes, and grades, depending on age groups and experience/abilities, of which is outlined below and on our registration page.

School Year 9-13: this age group will be facilitated via the Mount Aspiring College sports coordinators, with information becoming available during Term 3. Please email us if you have any queries regarding this age group and we will direct you to the appropriate contact within the wider club.

Skills and Development Programmes, Term 1 2025
Wānaka Smash Play (School Year 0 - 2):
Wednesday | 3.30 - 4.15pm | Wānaka Primary School. Facilitated by Otago Country Cricket

Soft-ball programme for children Years 0 – 2 with a focus on game play, values and enjoyment.
Every session has more hits, more catches, more action… more fun!

Wānaka Summer Smash (School Year 3 - 4, as at Term 1 2025):
Wednesday | 4.30 - 5.30pm | Wānaka Primary School. Facilitated by Otago Country Cricket.

These sessions are for children in Years 3 – 4 not wanting to play hard-ball cricket at this stage.
Details of the programme to be confirmed, but this gives kids of all levels an opportunity to experience cricket in a fun and inclusive format, before entering the hard ball competition.

Girls Smash 5's! (School Year 7 - 11, as at Term 1 2025):
Wednesday | 4.00pm | Mt Aspiring College. Facilitated by Otago Country Cricket.

These sessions are for girls in Years 7 – 11 wanting to give cricket a go!

Wānaka Girls Smash (School Year 3 - 6):
Wednesdays 4.30pm, at Wānaka Primary School.

A fun and social programme for girls school years 3-6. This has been designed to offer girls of all skill levels an opportunity to experience our game in a fun, inclusive format.

Divisional & Youth Grade Competitions
Divisional Grades (School Year 4 - 8, as at Term 4 2024):

The Divisional Grade teams play in a hard ball competition, on Saturdays, within the Otago Country region.

Div 3:
Introductory and skill development/ continuation, hard ball cricket

Div 2:
Intermediate hard ball cricket

Div 1:
Advanced hard ball cricket

Youth Cricket (School Year 7-8) as at Term 4 2024:
Next level in the hard ball competition. Play on Saturday afternoons, within the Otago Country region.

This season is already underway but email us if you are still keen.

School Year 9 - 13

This age group is facilitated via Mount Aspiring College and supported by the wider Club. Please email us if you have any queries regarding this age group and we will direct you to the appropriate contact.

ANZ CRICKET GRANT - ASSISTANCE WITH FEES

ANZ are aware that this is a challenging financial time for many at the moment and want to be able to ensure that registration fees are not a barrier to participation this year. They have set up the ANZ Cricket Grant, where families can apply for financial assistance for fees.
